Directions and Precautions

Always consult with a healthcare professional for the correct application of this product.

Follow this method for optimal skin protection, joint stability and compression:

  1. PREPARE THE SKIN: Clean and dry the skin. For best results, wet-shave the area 12 hours before use or use an electric razor just prior.
  2. PROTECT THE SKIN: Apply USL Dynafix-H Retention Dressing or USL Foam Underwrap as a base layer to protect the skin.
  3. PROVIDE STABILITY: Using the correct taping method for your injury, apply USL Sport Rigid Tape to stabilise the area.
  4. ADD SUPPORT: Overwrap with USL EAB (Elastic Adhesive Bandage) for enhanced compression and support.
  5. TO REMOVE: Use bandage scissors, or a specialised tape cutter. Avoid peeling the tape at right angles. Peel the tape gently and evenly, do not rip. A tape remover can help to easily remove tapes and residue from the skin.

Caution: For external use only. Do not apply to broken or infected skin. Only use moderate tension and pressure when applying tape, to avoid circulation restriction. If you experience numbness or tinging, remove the tape immediately and reapply with reduced tension. Remove tape immediately following physical activity or sport. Always follow the instructions for use. For severe injuries, seek medical advice. Consult your healthcare professional if symptoms persist.

Warning: Contains zinc-oxide, which may cause a reaction in some people.

Tapes are to be kept in cool dry areas below 30 degrees.

FAQ's
How long can I leave Rigid Tape on for?

For optimal use, we advise removing Rigid Tape within 24 hours. If applied for activity or sport, it should be taken off immediately afterwards.

What width tape should I use?

There is no right or wrong size to use; however, the following sizes are most effective when used on these areas:

  • 12mm - Ideal for hands and fingers
  • 25mm - Wrists
  • 38mm - Suitable for elbows, shoulders and ankles
  • 50mm - Best for shoulders and knees
Can anyone apply Rigid Tape?

We advise consulting your healthcare professional before application to ensure proper use. After receiving guidance, Rigid Tape can be easily self-applied; though areas like the shoulders and wrists might require a helping hand!

How should Rigid Tape be stored?

Rigid Tape should be stored in a cool, dry environment, with temperatures not exceeding 30°C. This prevents activation of the adhesive, ensuring optimal performance when applied.

Is Rigid Tape suitable for everyone?

Rigid Tape is generally suitable for most people; however, it should not be used by those who are allergic to Zinc Oxide Adhesive and Latex. It is also contraindicated for those with open wounds, infections, or fragile skin prone to damage, as improper use could lead to irritation. As it is designed to restrict movement, it may not be suitable for those who require flexibility of their joints. We recommend consulting with a Healthcare practioner prior to using.
